I'm not your 'Toy' : Eurovision 2018
Eurovision 2018 was, by far, one of the best singing competitions many of us have ever heard. Many entries such as the Czech Republic’s entry ‘Lie to me’ got the audience on their feet and singing along, but the winners are the ones who get the praise. In first place, came Israel’s song ‘Toy’ sung by Netta, which was very catchy, and for you chicken lovers, the best out of the lot. In second, comes Cyprus’ ‘Fuego’ which means ‘fire’. This song was a very dance worthy tune and with all the head movement, we are all surprised that Elena Fouriera could sing so well. Coming in third was Austria, and singing was Cesár Sampson, who did an excellent job with ‘Nobody but you’: a very emotional song, but with a beat of a beat.
In fourth place came Germany with a very moving song and performance, as Michael Shulte’s song was about his father who had passed away. In contrast to the sadness of his song, this fourth place winner is about to become a father himself. In fifth place came Italy, with Ermal and Fabrizo singing the song ‘non mi avete fatto’ which means ‘you did not make me’. Coming to the end of the winner’s list, in sixth place, is Czech Republic with the song ‘Lie to me’ by Mikolas Josef. This song is a very modern, dance worthy song that is very catchy.
All of these songs promise to get stuck in your head, but believe me, they are the best songs to go looping around your brain. Making all this happen in Portugal provided so much more amazing music that can be watched on YouTube (see the summary above) or listened to on Spotify, and next year, we will see them in Israel!
