You have probably heard of Egyptian gods all cool and awesome and that, but there are some gods that aren’t really famous. So here are 10 gods that you haven't heard of before (probably).

Wepwawet

War Deity

Wepwawet is an ancient Egyptian god who is often illustrated as a wolf-headed human.

He usually is seen with hunting tools and weapons.

His name means the opener of roads. This is thought to signify the paths in the underworld or the choices in life. He is the opener of the underworld and guides spirits to Anubis. He is Anubis' Brother and Seth is his father. He gets confused with Anubis a lot. Their only difference is the colour of their fur. Wepwawet's fur is grey and Anubis' fur is black.

Anput

Goddess of Religion

Anput is the Goddess of religion and Anubis' wife. Her name is the female version of Anubis. She is depicted as a woman wearing a standard with on top a jackal or a large dog. She is occasionally seen as a woman with a jackal head but that is very rare. She is the mother of Kebechet, Goddess of purification.

Seshat

Goddess of Wisdom

Seshat is the Ancient Egyptian Goddess of reading, writing, arithmetic and architecture. She is the wife of Thoth, God of Wisdom. She looks after the Library of the Gods and it was Seshat who invented writing.

She is drawn as a woman wearing a leopard skin dress and wearing a headdress composed of a flower or a seven-pointed star.

Babi

God of Wild Baboons

Babi is the god of wild baboons. His name can be translated as the bull of the baboons or chief of the baboons. When a soul was weighed by Anubis if the soul was heavier than the feather the body was given to Babi to eat. He is figured usually as a baboon-headed man, or just a baboon.

Khonsu

God of gambling and the moon.

Khonsu is the Egyptian god of the moon and of gambling. His name means Traveller. He is depicted as a child of Amun and Mut with green skin and a long white robe or as a man with a falcon head and a white globe over his head signifying the moon.

Serkhet

Goddess of Scorpions

Serkhet the goddess if scorpions, fertility, nature, animals, medicine and healing. Her name means “she who causes the throat to breathe”. She is seen as a woman wearing a scorpion crown holding an ankh (which represent peace) and was-sceptre (which represents power). She is married to Horus and has four sons; Imsety, Duamutef, Hapi (who you will see more of) and Qebehsenuef.

Nekhebet

Goddess of vultures

Nekhebet was the goddess of vultures. She was a patron of a city called Nekheb. Her priestesses were seen as a mother figure and wore dresses made out of vulture wings. She was seen a female vulture with a staff and a shen-ring.

Hapi

Protector of the Lungs (not really a good job but hey! His brothers got worse)

Hapi was the protector of the lungs. He is the third son of the Four Sons of Horus. He is usually seen as a canopic jar with a monkey head. His parents were Horus and Serkhet and his brothers are Imsety, Duamutef and Qebehsenuef.

Kepri

The god of scarabs (whaaat)

Kepri is the god of scarab beetles and the rising sun. He was a solar deity. He is depicted and the symbol of rebirth and creation. He is usually seen as a man with a scarab head (pity).
