House and International week 2022 recap
The House system in BISB exists due to the ambitious goal of bringing teamwork and spirit into our hearts. In the school year of 2022 – 2023, the house team has been up to a strong start in organizing entertaining events. The week starting 10th October – 14th October (the last week before half term), was ‘International week’ and ‘House week’. We started planning the events weeks before international week and managed to produce appealing and interesting ideas for all to enjoy. We also ensured that most lessons had some sort of an international day twist on them. For example, quizzes, fun facts etc all
Here are some of the events organized during lunchtime-
Monday- Flags Kahoot (guess which flag belongs to which country)
Tuesday- Mask Making (design and create masks from diverse cultures)
Wednesday- Limbo and Rubrics cube challenge (competing to see who can bend below the lowest bar and who is the fastest to solve the Rubics cube)
Thursday- Fashion show runway (show off the beauty and richness of the traditional dress of your country)
Thursday the 13th was the busiest and most significant of all the days because there were 3 major events
One of them was- everybody's favorite- Dress up day! On Thursday Lunch break there was a fancy dress runway where any student who dressed up as their country got the opportunity to show off their countries’ beauty and glory! We were truly delighted by the amount of participation: it was lovely to see so many people loving and cherishing their cultures.
The second event was the international door judging! I personally went around to all the tutor rooms asking their house representative to pick a country they are going to be decorating their door for. Everybody had 1 week one planning and 3 days to stick it on their door before we (House Captains and House chair) went and judged it.
Now when it comes to diversity, one thing that everybody enjoys is FOOD! Leading me to the 3rd event; there was the international breakfast where every student could bring 1 traditional dish from their country and serve it to their classmates.
Now coming to the most interesting part- THE WINNERS! Who were the winners of our door decoration competition? The doors were judged on 3 categories- Creativity, Representation and Recyclability. This was graded out of 15 points. It was extremely hard to select the victors as the quality of the doors were fantastic. Now, cutting the chase and coming to the winners- in third place we have Year 10 Kontiki with 12 points who decorated their door for the Netherlands! In second place we have Year 13 Endeavour with 14 points who decorated their door for Venezuela! And in first place with the best door in the whole school was Year 10 Endeavour with a close score of 14.5 who decorated their door for Japan!
Who was the winner of the Limbo and Rubics cube?
Well, the winner for the Limbo, out of all the participants, was the super flexible Nora from Year 7 Kontiki! The winner for the fastest Rubics cube solver was none other than, the extraordinary smart Tim from Year 9 Calypso!
To sum the entire half term up, the overall winners for half term are as follows- fourth place we have DISCOVERY with 1092 House Points. In third place we have CALYPSO with 1209 house Points. With a small lead in second place, we have KONTIKI with 1265 House Points. Meaning, in first place we have ENDEAVOUR with 1340 House Points!
Overall, this half term was a blast and I hope you enjoyed it as well! We are impressed with the participation and interest you have shown in the house events this year compared to previous years. It is fair to say we have come a far way! It is very pleasing to have the House Captains, house representatives and every single student who participated in our events onboard to develop and promote your voices.
The house team promises you that there will be many more fun events to look forward to in the future. If you have any concerns or have any cool ideas for upcoming events, kindly email-

Ones again, thank you so much to all the participants and congratulations to the winners. Stay tuned for new and fun events coming up!
